I led the creation of the CUPNOODLES MUSEUM Hong Kong's first official website, creating a user-friendly platform and comprehensive ticketing system. This preparation paid off at the March 2021 grand opening, with numerous workshop tickets selling out within four days.

Research and Discovery

During the Research and Discovery phase for the CUPNOODLES MUSEUM Hong Kong website, I conducted a comprehensive analysis of the museum's unique offerings and target audience. This involved competitive analysis of similar interactive museums and their digital presence to identify best practices and opportunities for differentiation.

To further inform the design strategy, I conducted market research on Nissin Foods' official website and the CUPNOODLES MUSEUM Japan sites.

The Nissin Foods site showcased a strong emphasis on brand storytelling through its modern design and intuitive navigation, highlighting product innovation and corporate values. Similarly, the Japan museum websites offered immersive digital experiences that complemented their physical attractions, with detailed information about exhibits like My Cup Noodles Factory and Chicken Ramen Factory on Homepage. There is also a seamless online booking systems for workshops, which inspired key elements of our approach for the Hong Kong site. By combining insights from market analysis, we were able to craft a website that effectively balanced user needs with the museum's mission to celebrate creativity and innovation.

Wireframe Design

During the wireframe design phase for the online reservation system, we considered displaying three separate calendars to allow users to choose dates for different workshop types. However, we realized that this approach would clutter the interface and create visual confusion with multiple navigation arrows.

To enhance clarity and usability, we decided to consolidate the three calendars into a single, unified calendar view. This streamlined design simplified the visual layout, making it easier for users to navigate and book workshops efficiently.

As we brought the design to life, we crafted a visually engaging experience that resonated with the CUPNOODLES brand. To highlight selected dates, we transformed the selector into a distinctive red CUPNOODLES cup, creating an instant visual connection. Beneath each date, we added colored dots to intuitively convey workshop availability, allowing users to quickly scan and plan their visit.

To make browsing seamless, we introduced a swipe interaction that let users effortlessly scroll through workshop timeslots with a simple gesture. This intuitive design not only streamlined the booking process but also infused the digital experience with the playful spirit of the museum. By combining these elements, we created a user-friendly interface that was both functional and engaging, setting the stage for a memorable visit to the CUPNOODLES MUSEUM.

Ticket and Workshop Sechedule Design

Although my time at the company concluded before the CUPNOODLES MUSEUM Hong Kong officially opened its doors, I contributed significantly to the museum's first impression by designing tickets and workshop schedules display.

These elements embodied the museum's playful innovation spirit and celebrated the iconic CUPNOODLES brand. The ticket design featured vibrant colors and mascots for each workshop—My CUPNOODLES Factory, Demae Iccho Factory, and My Granola Factory—ensuring a cohesive and memorable brand experience.

Original concept for the entrance wristband design

As visitors approach the entrance, anticipation builds as they're greeted by the workshop schedule display. This isn't just a list of times; it's a carefully curated invitation to a day of creative exploration. Echoing the ticket's color-coding system, the timetable provides a seamless transition from entry to activity planning. The highlighted "Coming Session" acts like a friendly guide, pointing the way to the next adventure, while the clear display of seat availability ensures transparency and manages expectations. The simple icons representing each workshop provide subtle yet effective visual cues, making it effortless for visitors to navigate their day.

Workshop Schedule Design

The true magic lies in the combined effect: the ticket and timetable design work in harmony to craft an immersive and welcoming experience from the very first step. By thoughtfully weaving together the iconic CUPNOODLES brand, playful mascots, and clear, concise information, these designs set the stage for a day brimming with creativity, learning, and, most importantly, fun. They're a delicious taste of what awaits inside, a promise of the engaging experiences to come.

The CUPNOODLES MUSEUM Hong Kong quickly captured the city's attention, with Time Out Hong Kong hailing it as a top destination for interactive fun and a unique "trip to Japan" right in Tsim Sha Tsui. The press release highlighted the museum's diverse workshop offerings, from the iconic "My Cupnoodles Factory" to the world-exclusive "My Granola Factory," and its visually engaging, hands-on experiences.

Integral to this success was the museum's official website, which I designed, particularly its online ticket system. This system proved crucial in managing high demand, with visitors frequently commenting on the popularity of workshops and recommending pre-booking tickets online to avoid disappointment, as highlighted in TripAdvisor reviews.

Adding to the museum's prestige, the Hong Kong Tourism Board recognized it as one of the "11 must-try Hong Kong attractions and activities," further solidifying its status as a key cultural destination for both locals and tourists. This recognition underscores the museum's contribution to Hong Kong's vibrant tourism scene, and the CUPNOODLES MUSEUM official website played a vital role in ensuring accessibility and visitor satisfaction. By sharing the latest news, streamlining the booking process, and providing real-time availability updates, the website enhanced the overall museum experience, encouraging visitors to plan ahead and fully enjoy their time at this unique attraction.
